Really nice idea, and great touch using the animated GIF (honestly I would have never noticed the flipped symmetry without it).

I really like this idea, but to be perfectly honest I don't think you need to the 3D. I think it would be even stronger if you just concentrated on the B/W matte; allowing the concept shine through un-interrupted. But absolutely great concept, well done.
